This is one of the most important days of our lives. Americans by far spend a massive amount of money when planning weddings. Everything must be perfect, but it often is not. One thing for sure, the bride must be stunning. This will always be the most focused on part of the wedding; the dress!

Alex Fashion and Bridal located in the Lauer’s Building at 3300 Monroe Avenue, Suite 200 is a unique, sophisticated boutique where you will receive personal attention like no other. Owner Inna Zhezherya, brings 30 years of fashion experience to the table. She attended the Fashion Institute in Eastern Europe. After moving to the United States, Inna started with a small alteration business. The business recently expanded, adding a bridal shop. What a beautiful, comfortable place it is!
Inna’s store offers a full-service bridal shop, alterations, women’s clothing and bridal party dresses. Inna prides herself in finding “flattering fashions” for her customers. She feels providing gorgeous options along with quality and service is what makes her shop as one above the rest. She offers personalized services, so the customers don’t feel like they are buying wedding dresses on an assembly line. Your wedding day is a day you will always remember so why not make it the best it can be?

Inna loves her decision to add the bridal portion to the store. She indicates her boutique offers a special service where the bride can choose her dress, but she also performs the alterations on site. Working directly with the brides, is Inna’s favorite part of the business. When coming into the store, the brides bring with them a unique energy and excitement which is contagious. Inna loves to show the brides dresses and often encourages them to try something they might not otherwise be interested in.

“I often find, Inna says, the bride doesn’t always choose what would look best on them. Think outside the box. It is interesting and sometimes challenging to encourage the ladies to have an open-mind”.

Many times, women are pleasantly surprised! They walk in with the attitude of “no ball gowns” and leave purchasing one, after experiencing the princess feeling after putting one on. Inna feels the goal of her business is to make a bride feel comfortable and to listen to her needs and concerns.

“It is our goal at Alex Fashion and Bridal to make sure every bride feels and looks their best on her special day. We can honestly say we love our brides”.

Rochester Woman Online had their first wedding expo on January 21, 2018. As part of this theme, we not only held a fashion show, but decided to have a special wedding editionand we wanted to bring you a feature demonstrating how a bride goes through the experience of choosing her dress. Model, Brigid Hetzel is scheduled to marry May 27th, 2018. Bridget agreed to participate and share her story!

Brigid shared:
“I was never the girl who grew up dreaming of getting married. I honestly dreamt of a good education, so I could get a good job that would enable me to pay my own bills and be self-sufficient. When I was 15, I already knew I wanted to be a physical therapist.
I never played dress-up and I never doodled images of wedding dresses in my school notebooks. Instead, I sketched pictures of A-frame houses and longed to buy my own home. Even today, I spend more time in the home good sections of popular department stores than I do in the mall”.

Brigid indicates this makes her the unconventional bride. While she does want to look like a princess or be the perfect example of a glowing bride (mostly because of her fight to become one), she wants to celebrate with everyone! Brigid indicates she learned the hard way “what is important in life” and she never wants to take anything for granted keeping perspective remembering not to get caught up in the small stuff.

Brigid notes her wedding is in 5 months, but she hasn’t spent much time thinking about color schemes, who’s wearing what and what brand her shoes are. She hasn’t picked a veil or even the flowers. The reason she says is that for once in her life she is truly happy. She learned the valuable lessons in life.

Brigid says:
“I have met someone whom I love more than I knew possible. I thought I knew myself, but I have learned so much more from this person. I have learned that asking for help or being helped doesn’t take away my independence; that teamwork is fundamental to the success of any relationship; and that with hard-work anything is possible”.

Choosing your wedding dress is the focal point of planning a wedding. Brigid points out for her, choosing the boutique she will buy her dress starts out with repour. Most important is making the customer feel welcome. Brigid said, “In reality, we are not choosing a dress, the dress will choose you”! You may have an idea of what you want, but that may not be what you end up with after trying on countless dresses. The dresses come in all fashions long, short, with a train, lacy, silky or with extravagant beading. How can you choose just one?

The most alarming situation is the dresses are two sizes bigger than your normal size so don’t think you are getting fat (1). Don’t just focus on the overall look of the gown. You must be comfortable as you will be in the dress for several hours. So if you are a bride in the market for dresses, make sure you check out Alex Fashion and Bridal!

Always remember “You have to dance!” We always must remember we have to dance!
